PhD Synergy ISO 7
PhD Nutrition Synergy has been a market leading all in one supplement since it first launched many years ago and PhD Nutrition have updated their formula to reflect the latest research and take advantage of new ingredients. Synergy ISO-7 is a lean all in one supplement which helps you to gain muscle, recover faster and increase strength through it's intelligent formulation.
First of all the macronutrient profile is perfect for use before and after exercise - you get around 40g of protein and 16g of carbohydrates with minimal (under 2g) fats. The amount of protein and carbohydrates vary slightly by flavour because you need different amounts of flavouring for a chocolate to a vanilla. This nutritional profile is designed to deliver plenty of muscle building protein with just enough carbohydrates to help with energy and recovery but not so much that you have to worry about their effect on body fat.
With PhD Nutrition you do expect them to go a bit further than this and of course they do! Synergy ISO-7 has a very interesting micronutrient profile as well - they have added B Vitamins (great as a "pick me up" you will see many standalone B-Vitamin supplements around) alongside Zinc, Magnesium and Vitamin B6. If you've been looking at the supplement market you may have noticed ZMA supplements which help maintain normal testosterone levels crucial for protein synthesis - this is why they are included in the Synergy formula; there is no point in having lots of protein if your body isn't using it.
The defining characteristic of all in one supplements is the addition of creatine to boost muscle size and strength alongside protein and carbohydrates and this is the area where PhD Synergy really takes advantage of the latest research. Until recently the only way to boost the effectiveness (or at least the absorption) of creatine monohydrate was to include glucose (sugar) in fairly high amounts, which isn't ideal for athletes looking to lower sugar intake. With Synergy ISO-7 PhD have included a new ingredient CreaPep which actually boosts insulin by around 266% (compared to 84% for glucose) and this increase is sustained over a longer time period - and no need for any sugar! This sets Synergy apart from other all in one supplements and is a really great addition to the formula.
Each tub of PhD Synergy provides 30 servings so you may need 1 or 2 tubs per month depending on whether you choose to use it pre and post-workout or not. At Echo we'd recommend having Synergy pre and post workout on training days and then either once or twice per day on rest days - it has enough creatine in a single serving that you can make it last a little longer by having 1 a day if you prefer.
Who is PhD Synergy ISO 7 For?
PhD Synergy ISO7 is formulated for those with a lean physique in mind - think the stereotypical "cover model" body and this is an all in one supplement that fits in with this physique goal. If you're looking to add mass faster then you may want to either look at a higher carb all in one or an additional mass gainer.
When to Use PhD PhD Synergy ISO 7 ?
Ideally use PhD Synergy twice per day - one as a post workout shake on training days and then whenever is convenient to fit the other serving in (timing isn't really that important). Because PhD have formulated Synergy to have enough creatine in ONE serving to cover your daily intake you can get away with having one serving per day to save money; just ensure you hit your protein target from other sources.
